Traveling with the Berlin Change Days community to South Tyrol a couple of weeks ago was one of my personal highlights this year.
For many years this community founded by Holger Nauheimer has given me inspiration, helped me to see different perspectives, and encouraged me to explore and try out new things.
It was time this year to step into another role: being part of the Hosting Team with Katherina Longariva and Rutger Bartelsman and facilitating the learning journey at Alpine Change Days festival.
What an experience!
While Berlin Change Days is a lot about community connections, this time the travel before and after the festival, as well as the physical space at BASIS Vinschgau Venosta and surrounding mountains, played a key role for the individual & collective learning journey and „Exploring the Mountain within“.
I enjoyed a full week in the mountains, which gifted me with many learnings as a host, facilitator, learner, room mate, friend,… and being me.
- take time to arrive early and to host myself well
(long hours in trains or on winding mountain roads are exhausting and leave little room for embracing the now or new)
- invite and accept the perspectives from the environment with curiosity and imagination
(such as opening the festival outside on the former parade ground at BASIS with Daniel Hoernemann alias Walbrodt and Nik Beeson, or exchanging the „traditional“ workshop room with an energizing place under the trees)
- listen to the needs of the community, adjust and let go
(as a Hosting Team bring in moments of pause, lightness and fun …and somehow magically keep the time schedule 😉)
